Woj’s savage tweet about Rockets star Russell Westbrook trade rumors

Rockets, Russell Westbrook, Adrian Wojnarowski

ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski had a rather savage tweet regarding Houston Rockets star point guard Russell Westbrook.

The 2017 MVP, who has reportedly requested a trade from the Rockets, apparently doesn’t have a sizable trade market due to his monster contract.

Wojnarowski, one of the most plugged-in NBA reporters, said the marketplace for a possible Westbrook trade is “slow developing.”

Russell Westbrook is owed $130 million-plus on his contract. No team wants to acquire that type of money unless they are getting a superstar player in his prime.

While Westbrook is still one of the best guards in the NBA, his play is declining due to his age and his lack of a jump shot really hurt the Rockets in the 2020 playoffs, something clubs around the league saw.

Thus far, Westbrook has been linked to the Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks and Charlotte Hornets. It’s going to be interesting to see if and when the Rockets honor Westbrook’s trade request. The future Hall of Famer is concerned about the culture in Houston and reportedly doesn’t believe the team takes accountability seriously.

In the first season of the James Harden-Russell Westbrook partnership, the Rockets got to the second round of the playoffs, where they fell to LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers in five games. Mike D’Antoni decided not to come back as the team’s head coach and Daryl Morey stepped down from his GM post.

Moving forward, all eyes are going to be on the Rockets and Westbrook to see where Russ winds ups.
