[WATCH] Russell Westbrook goes off on reporter’s Kevin Durant question about leaving Thunder

Russell Westbrook and the Houston Rockets came into Staples Center on Thursday night and defeated the LA Clippers 122-117. The loss was the second at home all season for the Clippers, who had been 14-1 in L.A.

Westbrook led the way for Houston season-high 40 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists on 13-of-31 shooting from the field. Following the game, Westbrook spoke about his relationship with former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Paul George, who now plays for the Clippers.

“Oh, PG my boy,” Westbrook said. “We still talk, communicate. Nothing changed. Obviously we’re on separate teams now when we get in between those lines we compete, but I still stay in contact with him, check on his family and vice versa.”

That was followed up by a reporter asking why this split was amicable when the situation with Kevin Durant appeared to be the exact opposite. Safe to say Westbrook didn’t appreciate the question.

“Who? What you mean it hasn’t always been that way, what are you saying?” Westbrook asked.

“With other players who have left the Thunder?” the reporter responded.

“Who?” Westbrook asked again.

“With KD.”

“That’s not true. You think you know what you’re reading.”

The exchange didn’t end there, however. Following the conclusion of his postgame interview, Westbrook walked past the same reporter towards his locker to finish getting dressed and continued to talk to him.

“You tried to ask it in a tricky way,” Westbrook said. “You thought you were slick. It ain’t gonna work. You tried. You tried. It’s okay. Don’t try that shit with me though. I’m just telling you. I’ve been there, done that. It was slick. You tried to make me the bad guy, I’m not the bad guy. Good try, good try. All y’all do is make up shit.”

There were multiple reports that Westbrook was not happy with Durant’s departure and way he went about it, but here he strongly refutes any such ‘bad blood’ between the two.

The Rockets now take on the Phoenix Suns on Saturday afternoon. The Clippers will head to San Antonio to take on the Spurs on Saturday before heading to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder in Paul George’s return on Sunday.
