WATCH: Rockets legend Tracy McGrady scores 13 points in 35 seconds

Rockets, Tracy McGrady

Where were you when NBA legend Tracy McGrady scored 13 points in 35 seconds, helping his Houston Rockets team down Gregg Popovich’s San Antonio Spurs in a nailbiter?

The day was December 9, 2004 and McGrady, while guarded by renowned defender Bruce Browen, managed to knock down four three-point attempts — including one four-point play — to complete Houston’s comeback attempt as the Rockets would win 81-80. An athletic two-way playmaker who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017, McGrady tallied 33 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals against for Houston.

Former Rockets star Yao Ming added 27 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.

McGrady finished his career as a seven-time All-Star, seven-time All-NBA selection, two-time NBA scoring champion and the 2000-01 Most Improved Player. Unfortunately, he wasn’t one of the most durable players and a knee injury  he sustained while with the Rockets kept him from reaching his full potential and putting his stamp on the NBA record books.

A 16-year NBA veteran, McGrady also played with the Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks and San Antonio Spurs in his career but after his time with the Rockets, the former superstar became a journeyman player. Nonetheless, his scoring prowess and his dynamic abilities on the court won’t easily be forgotten, nor overshadowed by his inability to dominate in the twilight of his career.
