Warriors news: Golden State, Rockets miles ahead in terms of transition 3-point attempts

The Golden State Warriors took the NBA by storm in 2015 where they went on to win the NBA Finals. A key to their offense has been their 3-point shooting.

When Mike D’Antoni became the head coach of the Houston Rockets, the Rockets started playing with the same offensive setup with the hope of dominating the league the same way the Warriors have been doing.

The numbers show that the Rockets are quite successful.

According to Matt Moore of Action Network HQ, the Rockets and the Warriors are leading the league in points from transition 3-point attempts.

The Rockets have 389 points so far, while the Warriors have 388 points.

If you want to see how far ahead these two teams are from the others, take a look at the third team with the highest points from transition 3-point attempts — the Philadelphia 76ers are 87 points behind the Warriors.

The next team in line is the Washington Wizards, who have scored 117 points behind the leading Rockets.

And it’s not just the numbers. Many fans are also taking notice of the similar offensive styles of the Warriors and the Rockets by just watching their games.

In fact, many are anticipating a Warriors-Rockets meetup in the playoffs to see who really has the better offensive arsenal.

This anticipation has also been heightened after Houston acquired Chris Paul during the offseason. The former L.A. Clippers guard was acquired via trade, in exchange for Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, and other assets. His signing could be the difference to closing the gap against the defending champs.
