Golden State Warriors 10-time All-Star Kevin Durant is currently averaging an astounding 35.0 points per game in the playoffs. He has gone on an absolute tear for the Dubs in their first five games of the postseason, and there are currently no signs of him slowing down anytime soon.
When asked about what type of mindset that triggered such an explosive start to the playoffs, Durant nonchalantly shrugged off such talk, saying that in his mind, nothing has changed.
“Nothing inspired me,” Durant said, via Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. “I’ve been the same way all season. Same old s—.”
This would come off as an overly-confident response from anyone that is not on the same level as Durant, but coming from him, it’s actually hard to argue against.
Sure, Durant upped his average by nearly 10 points from his regular season output (he averaged 26.0 points in 78 regular season contests for the Dubs), but what does not seem to change is his killer instinct.
This was on full display again on Sunday, as Durant led the charge for the Warriors in their 104-100 Game 1 victory against the Houston Rockets.
The 30-year-old dropped a game-high 35 points on 11-of-25 shooting, as he ensured that it was going to be Golden State that were going to draw first blood in this highly-anticipated second-round series.
Game 2 will commence on Tuesday night, and we fully expect Durant to come out of the gates on fire, as he hopes to continue his current scalding hot streak.
