Warriors’ Andre Iguodala won’t talk about free agency discussions with Rockets

Andre Igoudala

As the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets get ready to battle, one of the stories being revisited revolves around one of the Dubs most steady veterans. Just how close did Andre Iguodala come to leaving the Warriors for the Rockets last summer?

The Rockets really pursued Andre Iguodala and after Chris Paul signed as the showrunner, he, too, jumped in with both feet while recruiting Iguodala for Houston. Iguodala actually canceled a few other meetings with teams and at one point, it really looked like he would be joining the Rockets.

When asked about joining the Rockets on Friday, Iguodala played it cool and acted like he didn’t have an idea about what was being asked.

“I don’t remember none of that from last summer,” Iguodala said. “I mean, at the end of the day, it’s all business and every story turns into business. I don’t know, man. I don’t remember, man.”

“I can’t get too deep now because then it will be a story everyone makes money off of at my expense,” Iguodala said. “So I’m just really excited to play basketball in America, be free and all that politically correct stuff.”

At the end of the day, Iguodala decided to come back to the Warriors on a three-year, $48 million deal. The Warriors are sure glad he did.

This year, again, he has been a key member coming off the bench and is a veteran guy who is really good in the locker room for some of the other young guys.

There is no doubt he will play a huge part in this series and the Warriors will use that to their advantage.
