Video: Warriors’ Draymond Green had reporter sweating after question on Christian Wood

Draymond Green, Warriors, Christian Wood, Rockets

After taking out the Rockets 108-94 on Wednesday, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green was fulfilling his media obligations during a postgame press conference. When asked about Christian Wood, Green initially snapped back at the reporter before revealing he was joking.

This is classic Draymond:

You can feel the moment when the reporter panics. At first you get the “Oh no, oh no,” feeling, before the clip takes a turn for the better.

Rare it is for a clip of Green in a press conference to go viral that isn’t him putting someone or something on blast with full conviction. I always admire the one who bravely steps up with the follow-up question after the Warriors forward has just delivered a full-on diatribe going at whatever the topic may be. This time, it was likely less stressful since Green was joking.

The reporter who asked the question seemed to be thrilled that he had gone viral asking Green a question that didn’t revolve around Draymond speaking his truths in an angry way:

You can’t really fault the reporter for that. If you told just about any media member, “Hey, you went viral for a question you asked Draymond Green,” 99.9% of the time you’d have to assume that a question was asked that the Warriors star didn’t quite like or appreciate.

Maybe Draymond has turned a corner! Perhaps the carefree, jokester side of Green will start to spread its wings more. While it may lean toward being doubtful, one can hope.

As for the game itself, Green had 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in the Warriors’ decisive win over the lowly Rockets, who have now lost 18 straight games. Golden State moved to 21-20 with the victory and now faces back-to-back games against the Memphis Grizzlies this weekend.
