Video: Warriors’ Draymond Green decks Rockets’ Chris Paul with crushing screen

Chris Paul, Draymond Green

This isn’t Chris Paul’s fault. The Houston Rockets superstar’s first priority in the clip below is stopping the ball to prevent Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry from getting a clean look from beyond the arc – almost no matter where is on the floor. As a result, it makes perfect sense that his head wouldn’t be on a swivel. Kenneth Faried, though? Guarding Draymond Green, it’s incumbent on Houston’s recent signee to call out the screen that’s clearly coming near halfcourt.

Faried either doesn’t make the call or doesn’t call out it loud enough, leading to a crushing screen from Green that doesn’t only level Paul, but also prompts a wild, scooping, airborne floater from Andre Iguodala that drops through the net just as the buzzer sounds, affording the Warriors some much-needed momentum going into halftime.

Fortunately, Paul left his brush with Green unscathed, and the Rockets, playing without an injured James Harden, weren’t burned by Faried’s gaffe in the long run.

Houston held off a late charge by Golden State, beating the home team 118-112. The Rockets, after pushing the two-time defending champions to the brink in last year’s Western Conference Finals, have now won four consecutive regular-season games against the Warriors, the only team to do so in the Steve Kerr era.
