VIDEO: Thunder’s Chris Paul wasn’t a virtual fan on Rockets’ matchup vs. Kings

Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star point guard Chris Paul had some time to spare on Sunday, and decided to spend it by watching his former team, the Houston Rockets, as they took on the Sacramento Kings.

Paul was caught on video enjoying the contest between two of his current team’s Western Conference foes:

It is not clear if Chris Paul stayed to finish the game — a contest that the Rockets won 129-112 — but surely, this was more of reconnaissance work for the veteran guard as opposed to a nostalgic trip. The Thunder are currently fifth in the West and are one game behind the fourth-placed Houston Rockets. If the playoffs were to start tomorrow, then these two teams would be pitted against each other in the first round, which should explain Paul’s interest in Sunday night’s contest.

Then again, things remain pretty tight out West. The Utah Jazz is just half a game behind the Thunder, while the Dallas Mavericks are two games behind them. As for the Rockets, they sit just a game and a half behind the third-seeded Denver Nuggets. Needless to say, the final positioning of the teams has yet to be determined, and a first-round matchup between the Rockets and Thunder is all but a certainty.

Paul parted ways with the Rockets last summer, with Houston sending him to OKC as part of the Russell Westbrook deal. Paul been amazing for the Thunder all season long and has led the side to a surprisingly impressive campaign.
