VIDEO: Rockets star John Wall scores first bucket in return to DC

Rockets, John Wall

Monday night marks the return of John Wall to his former stomping ground as the Washinton Wizards host the Houston Rockets in the Capital One Arena. Unsurprisingly, it was Wall who opened the scoring for the Rockets as he drained his first bucket back in D.C.

Here’s a look at Wall’s first deuce back in the building he played in for many, many years (h/t ClutchPoints on Twitter):

The five-time All-Star scored his first bucket in true John Wall fashion, draining a mid-range jumper after a couple of flashy dribbles. He’s done this so many times in the past as a Wizard, and it’s very odd to see him doing it another uniform — in Washington’s home floor no less.

Wall has been outstanding for the Rockets this season, averaging 19.5 points (on 44.4 percent shooting), 3.8 rebounds, and 5.9 assists, while also connecting on a career-best 2.1 triples per game on a 37.5-percent clip. He appears to have put his Achilles injury behind him and is (relatively) looking like the same player he was prior to the career-threatening injury.

As for the Wizards, their struggles this term have been well-publicized. They are currently sitting at the worst record in the entire Eastern Conference with just 7 wins in 24 games.
