Video: Rockets star James Harden reacts to Russell Westbrook trade

Rockets, James Harden, Russell Westbrook

Houston Rockets star James Harden has made his first statement since the team agreed to a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder to acquire Russell Westbrook.

You’ll have to watch the video, as Harden isn’t in America right now, so the Twitter caption isn’t in English. The former MVP says it’s “going to be a lot fun” playing with his brother again.

James Harden and Russell Westbrook played together on the Thunder and are very close friends. The two MVPs will now reunite on the Rockets and try to lead Houston to a championship.

Harden wasn’t getting along with Chris Paul and Rockets general manager Daryl Morey has been aggressive all summer trying to improve the roster. Westbrook has averaged a triple-double three seasons in a row. The explosive guard is coming off a terrible shooting season, but odds are Russ won’t shoot that poorly again.

Westbrook put up 22.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists in 2018-19. Harden, meanwhile, averaged 36.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 7.5 assists. Both superstars are going to have to adjust their games for this to work. The Rockets, though, are in a much better position to compete for a championship now with Westbrook in the mix and Paul out of the picture.
