Video: Rockets’ P.J. Tucker has words for Devin Booker thinking Suns guard flopped

P.J. Tucker, Devin Booker

In a crucial moment on Friday, the Houston Rockets were clinging onto a four-point lead against the Phoenix Suns with under two minutes remaining. With Phoenix’s Devin Booker in possession of the ball, a quick whistle was blown when Houston defender P.J. Tucker was called for a non-shooting foul.

Tucker didn’t take the call kindly and thought that Booker exaggerated with his body language to draw the foul from him. Tucker then expressed his frustration to Booker and the two got into a mild war of words before the next inbound.

Here’s a clip of the Suns All-Star’s apparent flop and the Houston veteran’s reaction after the play (via Bleacher Report):

Turns out that the call or non-call for flopping on Booker didn’t hurt the Rockets’ chances of winning, as they’d hang on to beat the Suns, 108-102.

Booker’s not known to be a dirty player at all, so perhaps Tucker just hit his boiling point during that moment.

The former Bundesliga champion has yet to score a basket at that point, missing all three of his field goal shots. On the other hand, Tucker was also playing terrific defense that game with five steals under his belt. Maybe he thought about picking Booker’s pocket but didn’t realize he was too eager at doing so.

Nonetheless, it’s a good thing the heat between Tucker and Booker didn’t escalate any further apart from a brief verbal altercation. The NBA’s had enough problems with the incident between Russell Westbrook and a Utah fan this week, and a brawl between two fellow NBA players will not look good on paper whatsoever.
