Video: Rockets’ James Harden shows off softball skills at JH-Town Weekend

Everyone knows James Harden as a talented basketball player with a deadly stepback and a knack for scoring points on the go. He showcased more of his athletic gifts when he played a celebrity baseball game during his JH-Town Weekend.

Ben DuBose of RocketsWire documented the fun yet competitive softball game that happened over the weekend. He detailed what happened during the fun yet competitive match:

The softball game at the University of Houston’s Schroeder Park featured a wide range of celebrities, including NBA players Harden and Oubre; rappers Meek Mill21 Savage, and Trae tha Truth; actress Draya Michele; and comedian Keraun Harris (King Keraun).

The game was briefly delayed due to thunderstorms. However, the clouds and rain-cooled air ultimately made for a more pleasant afternoon for the celebrity players and nearly 3,000 fans in the stands than could typically be expected for Houston in August.

The piece also showcased videos of Harden hitting balls for distance. His form — while relaxed — showcased a confident comfort in the batter’s box. He could easily enjoy a solid career in baseball if he puts his mind into it.

However, hoops fans are blessed that his sport of choice was basketball instead. His last two seasons saw him put career highs in points per game. His overall efforts also saw him win MVP honors in 2018 and compete against Giannis in a tight race for the 2019 title.

Now that the JH-Town weekend is over, it will only be a matter of time before Harden begins focusing on the coming season ahead. The league is the most open it has been in years, and the Rockets have a chance of winning it with him and Russell Westbrook on the roster.

Rockets fans can expect more exciting basketball from The Beard this coming season.
