Video: Rockets’ James Harden shows off insane range with 3-pointer against the Heat

James Harden, Rockets, Heat

Shooting range isn’t necessarily one of James Harden’s greatest strengths. When thinking of the NBA’s most proficient long-range bombers, several players come to mind before the reigning MVP – like the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, and the Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard. Even Atlanta Hawks rookie Trae Young seems to do more damage from well behind the three-point line than Harden.

You would hardly have known it on Thursday night, though, when the Houston Rockets superstar drilled a three from way, way back right in the face of Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters.

Easy. The best part about this effortless 30-footer? Harden, the NBA’s all-time leader in off-dribble threes, takes a bounce before launching despite the shot clock running down. Rhythm, believe it or not, matters for even the game’s best, not just washed up former high school players taking part in the weekly pickup game.

Harden has 14 points in the first half, as the surging Heat lead the Rockets at Toyota Center. Both teams, but especially Miami, are in dire need of a victory to assume optimal playoff positioning. Thursday’s contest also marks the final time close friends and future Hall of Famers Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul will suit up against one another.
