Video: Rockets’ James Harden drops Spurs’ Derrick White and splashes the open three

James Harden, Derrick White

More than a year ago, James Harden committed one of the most disrespectful moves in NBA history and easily the year’s best as he shook Wesley Johnson of the Los Angeles Clippers so hard, the Houston Rockets guard had plenty of time to taunt the fallen defensive ace before calmly sinking the wide-open three. Tonight, The Beard nearly replicated a similar move this time against the San Antonio Spurs’ Derrick White.

In the play, Harden accepted a dribble hand-off from center Clint Capela with White trying to jump on the passing lane a little too late and getting knocked to the ground by a combination of his momentum and Harden second-guessing the move. It’s not nearly as embarrassing as Johnson’s who was clearly the victim of an iconic ankle breaker, but White being incapacitated for a long while definitely shared similarities to how Harden took his time to bury the open three. Not like he needed time to aim given his propensity to drill stepbacks without any regard for whoever is guarding him.

The sequence would later cap off the 29-year-old’s career-high-tying 61 points, and also one of his nine long-range bombs. It’s just another day in the office for the league’s number one scorer who is setting records left and right with his insane scoring outbursts leading to an equally unbelievable average of 36.1 points per night.

If you ask Harden though, he would probably trade all of that away for a championship as the Rockets try to go all the way this year.
