Video: Rockets’ Clint Capela rejects Andre Iguodala’s dunk attempt

Clint Capela, Andre Iguodala, Warriors, Rockets

Houston Rockets center Clint Capela knows what’s at stake in their Game 3 showdown with the Golden State Warriors, and that’s evident with the way he started the game.

The Swiss big man provided what could already be the highlight of the match late in the first quarter when he stopped Andre Iguodala’s dunk attempt. It was no simple block either, as Capela made sure to leave his mark with an epic two-handed denial that brought the Toyota Center crowd to their feet.

Capela got a clean hand on the ball, and Iguodala was simply no match to the 240-pound shotblocker that awaited him at the top of the rim.

What makes Clint Capela’s block even more remarkable is the fact that Andre Iguodala leads all players in dunks this postseason. Capela obviously didn’t care about that and just did what he is paid for: anchor the Rockets’ defense on the paint.

Capela is averaging 10.3 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 blocks these playoffs. He is yet to make a significant impact to the Rockets, who lost the first two games of their Western Conference Semifinals series against the Warriors. However, if he can keep up the same energy and grit he showed in blocking Iggy’s dunk, it might not take long before he makes a difference for the team.
