Video: Rockets’ Clint Capela knocks Jazz’s Rudy Gobert back and goes for the thunderous jam
The Houston Rockets were able to win ugly on Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz, finishing off Utah behind a terrible shooting night for the Jazz.
The Rockets were also buoyed by a return to form for its center Clint Capela, who was suffering from a virus in the last game in Utah in the series.
Capela looked as bouncy as ever in the final game of the series, and he finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks in 35 minutes and was also a +17 in on/off rating.
Capela, for the most part, thoroughly outplayed the likely defensive player of the year in Rudy Gobert who only posted 9 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks and was a -15 in on/off in only 30 minutes of action.
Gobert even got muscled out of the paint by Capela in a memorable sequence early in the third quarter:

As you can see, Gobert is setting up in order to launch off two feet to contest or block Capela’s shot.
But Capela beats Gobert to the spot, muscles him out of the way and rises up for a ferocious two-handed slam.
There are times when a drop-back defensive anchor like Gobert is effective but allowing Capela to get a head of steam before bowling over Gobert in this situation was the wrong way to play it.
