Video: Rockets’ Chris Paul nutmegs Warriors’ Kevon Looney

Rockets, Chris Paul, Warriors, Kevon Looney

It’s a well-known fact that Rockets point guard Chris Paul is an excellent ball-handler, but the move he put on Kevon Looney in Tuesday night’s Game 2 matchup against the Golden State Warriors can serve as proof.

With two and a half minutes left in the second quarter, Paul began to set his move up. Knowing he had a mismatch, he dribbled the ball beyond the three-point line to spread the floor. As Looney crept forward with his left leg, Paul simply dribbled right between his legs.

Paul easily made his way around Looney’s right side and proceeded to the rack. His driving attempt was blocked, but he managed to get the put-back to drop through several defenders.

The move was flashy, to be sure. However, the Rockets were ultimately defeated in Game 2, 115-109. Paul logged 40 minutes, scoring 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field (2-of-7 from beyond the arc), seven rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Houston struggled with turnovers in Game 2. In fact, they committed nine first-quarter turnovers, leading to 14 Warriors points.

“They got 91 shots up and we got 77 up,” Paul said during his post-game interview. “Obviously, we’ve gotta be better on the glass and take better care of the ball. That’s something that we did well for most of the season, and we haven’t done well in the first two games of this series.”

As a result of Tuesday’s loss, the Rockets are now trailing the Warriors, 0-2. The series now moves to Houston. Game 3 is set to tip at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, with ABC having live broadcast coverage.
