Video: Rockets’ Chris Paul goes between-the-legs, gets Hawks’ John Collins to bite, and feeds Kenneth Faried

Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul has a bevy of ball-handling moves in his arsenal, a fact that Atlanta Hawks big man John Collins found out the hard way during Tuesday’s contest. With Paul driving the lane during the fourth quarter, he faked Collins out with a dribble between his own legs, seemingly paving the way to get a bucket for himself, just to dish it off to a cutting Kenneth Faried at the last instant, who banked it off the glass:

Just a game after tying his career high with six made three-pointers against Minnesota, Paul got back to doing what he does best: Dishing out assists. He collected 11 of them in Tuesday’s win over Atlanta, adding in 13 points, with three steals for good measure across his 29 minutes. Faried finished with eight points off the bench on 4-for-6 shooting.

Paul isn’t a former four-time single-season assist leader for nothing. Putting defenders on skates and getting his teammates easy buckets is one way to rack up an average of nearly 10 assists per game over the length of his career, compiling over 9,000 assists, currently seventh on the all-time leaderboard. Next up for him on his ascent to the top of the NBA’s dishing Mount Rushmore is Oscar Robertson, although that likely won’t come until the 2019-20 season at the earliest. It’s within the realm of possibility that Paul gets as high as third on the all-time assists list, but eclipsing John Stockton and Jason Kidd, first and second, respectively, is a different endeavor entirely.
