Video: Nuggets hold extended moment of silence for Kobe Bryant before game vs. Rockets

Kobe Bryant, Lakers, Nuggets

The basketball world is reeling from the tragic loss of former Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant following a fatal helicopter crash in Calabasas on Sunday morning.

The news, which was first reported by TMZ, circulated shortly before tip-off of Sunday afternoon’s game between the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center.

In the wake of the Bryant news, the Nuggets held an extended moment of silence, which was subsequently followed by an outburst of “Ko-be!” chants throughout the arena:

Bryant and four others, including his daughter GiGi, were killed in the accident.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is set to host a press conference at 2 p.m. PST, where they will likely answer questions about the accident and shed more light on what occurred early Sunday morning:

For now, the NBA community mourns the loss of an all-time great. RIP Kobe Bryant.
