Video: NBA releases new 2018 Christmas Day commercial

NBA Christmas

The NBA released their new commercial for this year’s slate of games for Christmas Day, featuring some of the biggest teams in The Association, but also boasting a couple of key omissions in their lineup.

Christmas will get started with a noon (ET) matchup between the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks on ESPN, before sandwiching three high-caliber matchups on ABC —Thunder vs. Rockets at 3 p.m., 76ers vs. Celtics at 5:30 p.m., and Lakers vs. Warriors at 8 p.m.

The night will come to an end with a Western Conference clash between the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz at 10:30 p.m. back on ESPN, giving viewers an end-to-end couch experience for the family.

While these matchups are assigned in advance of the start of the regular season, one glaring omission from this slate are the Toronto Raptors, who boast the best record in the league at 23-7.

The league has had a decades-long tradition of featuring the New York Knicks, a big-market team, despite their constant shortcomings.

The Houston Rockets were expected to be among the West’s powerhouses, but they have the second-worst record in the conference at 12-14 — yet a matchup between James Harden and Russell Westbrook should prove fun enough to watch.

Philly and Boston will renew their potential rivalry after the latter cruised to a 4-1 series win last postseason, this time taking on a reinforced Sixers team with Jimmy Butler as the closer.

While the rivalry between Golden State and Cleveland has come to an end, the LeBron James-Kevin Durant battle hasn’t, making Lakers vs. Warriors a must-watch for those hoping to see how The King’s new team measures up against the defending champions.
