Video: James Harden puts Josh Jackson on skates

James Harden

On Friday night at Toyota Center, Houston Rockets superstar guard James Harden showed off his fancy ball handling skills at the expense of Phoenix Suns rookie forward Josh Jackson.

Late in the second quarter with the Rockets trailing the Suns 49-34, Harden crossed Jackson over and dropped the rookie to the floor as he went to the basket for an easy layup.

The play, which was posted on Twitter by the NBA’s official account, can be viewed below.

Unfortunately for Harden, this was the only shot from the field that the star guard made in the first half as the Rockets surprisingly trailed the Suns 57-40 at halftime. At the half, Harden had nine points on just 1-of-8 shooting from the field but was able to go 7-of-11 at the free-throw line.

However, Jackson was definitely outplaying Harden for those first 24 minutes of action and was the game’s leading scorer at halftime with 15 points on 7-of-15 shooting, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal in just 18 minutes on the court.

The Suns, who have lost 13 straight games and currently own the league’s worst record at 19-57 heading into Friday night, could potentially snap the Rockets’ 10-game winning streak tonight and pull off one of the most unexpected victories of the entire 2017-18 NBA season.

But the Rockets proved to be too good to drop this one. They did it via a squeaker, though, thanks to a game-winning 3-pointer by Gerald Green en route to a one-point victory, 104-103.

With the Golden State Warriors’ loss to the Milwaukee Bucks last night, the Rockets (61-14) officially clinched home-court advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs. The Warriors are really feeling the effects of the injury bug to their star players lately, as they have stumbled and lost seven of their last 10 games.
