Houston Rockets guard James Harden made history when he recorded the NBA’s first 60-point triple-double Tuesday. In his first game since the historic feat, San Antonio Spurs fans showed what a class act they truly are by expressing their appreciation for his performance that did not even occur in their arena.

The Rockets beat the Spurs 102-91 on Thursday but the fans stood up to applaud the MVP contender as he was dribbling out the clock with the outcome already decided.

If you listen closely, you’ll hear some fans in the crowd chanting “M-V-P! M-V-P!”

Harden scored 28 points to go along with 11 assists, one steal, and two blocks. He also made five 3-pointers on 5-for-12 shooting, helping the Rockets take down the Spurs in convincing fashion for the second time this season.

They led by as much as 19 points before the Spurs closed the gap momentarily in the fourth quarter. The Rockets finished the game strong as they survived a furious attack from the hometown team.

This is Harden’s second straight campaign with a strong bid for the Maurice Podolff trophy that is given to the NBA’s Most Valuable Player. He placed second to Russell Westbrook last year.

Harden is averaging 31.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 9.1 assists, and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 38.6 percent from 3-point range. He is leading the charge for a Houston team that is a serious contender for the NBA title.

At 37-13, the Rockets are only two-and-a-half games behind the league-leading Golden State Warriors who have a 40-11 record. The two teams are also in first and second place in the league’s overall standings.
