Video: James Harden doesn’t stay for handshakes after Game 7, leaves for locker room
After the final buzzer sounded, everyone from the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets flocked to center court to shake hands except one. James Harden, the leading candidate for the MVP award this season, went straight to the locker room.
Below is the video of opposing teams congratulating one another for a well-fought series and Harden — jersey off, heading straight to the lockers.
It’s hard to say that Harden’s behavior was acceptable. As the adage goes, a true champion stays humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
Perhaps Harden was just too frustrated about the calls? Who knows. It is a fact, however, that fans have been raving about the questionable plays in Game 7 that went against the Rockets. We can only be skeptical at this point.
Full of bad calls or not, it is also a fact that Harden and the Rockets were not making their shots from three. He was just 2-of-13 from downtown in Game 7. As a team, they were 7-of-44 from beyond the arc.
Harden and the Rockets were crowned the best team in the regular season. In the process, Harden was highly-touted as an MVP candidate. In the playoffs, they journeyed to the Western Conference Finals to battle the defending champions. The series extended to seven games. These are monumental achievements in themselves. By all means, Harden shouldn’t be disappointed. They had a very, very good run.
