Video: Gerald Green hits game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer

Gerald Green

Comeback complete. It may not have been the prettiest victory in the slightest this season for the league-leading Houston Rockets, but shooting guard Gerald Green came up clutch and hit the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to knock off the bottom-feeding Phoenix Suns 104-103 on Friday night.

After the Rockets had trailed the Suns by as many as 21 points in the third quarter, the Clutch City team pulled off a huge comeback at Toyota Center in the fourth quarter to win their 11th straight victory.

A video of Green’s 3-pointer from the corner with the Rockets trailing 103-101, which was posted on Twitter by the Rockets’ official team account, can be viewed below in all of its epicness.

With the Rockets down 101-98 and only 12.2 seconds left in regulation, superstar guard and MVP favorite James Harden (28 points on 8-of-21 shooting) tied the game at 101-101 with his first and only 3-pointer made of the night. However, Suns rookie forward Josh Jackson (27 points on 13-of-24 shooting) clapped right back and knocked down a clutch jumper with only 1.4 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

In the end, it was the hometown hero in Green who was the one to save the day with his buzzer-beating heroics. Sometimes, all that matters at the end of the day is if you were able to get the win.

Green has enjoyed a wonderful season so far. His numbers won’t jump through the rook, but his story from being out of the league to getting a chance with the Rockets — and securing his spot — makes for a feel-good story.
