Video: Doc Rivers, Austin Rivers go back and forth in Hawaii in family trash talk

Rockets, Clippers, Austin Rivers, Doc Rivers

Houston Rockets guard Austin Rivers and Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers had some fun in Hawaii.

Austin and Doc went back and forth in front of the scorer’s table during the Clippers-Rockets game. Our own Tomer Azarly was there to capture the fun:

At Rockets media day, Austin Rivers said Doc Rivers was on Cloud 9 all offseason, and you can’t blame him. The Clippers signed Kawhi Leonard in free agency and traded for Paul George.

Games between the Rockets and Clippers will be exciting to watch this season. James Harden and Russell Westbrook versus Kawhi and PG-13; it doesn’t get much better than that.

We’ll also get to see Austin and his dad have some more friendly back and forths on the court.

Austin re-signed with the Rockets this summer on a two-year deal worth $4.54 million. He reportedly turned down more lucrative offers to play elsewhere because he loved his time with Houston last season.

Austin appeared in 47 games with the Rockets in 2018-19 and averaged 8.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Both the Rockets and Clippers are legitimate title contenders. Houston is the only team in the NBA with two MVPs on its roster after acquiring Westbrook from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Everyone in Houston is excited to watch Westbrook and Harden play together.

The Clippers, with Leonard and George leading the way, will try and win their first championship in franchise history this season. They have one of the best coaches in the NBA coaching the group.
