Video: Chris Paul elbows Kevin Durant
Who says the NBA has gone soft? Well, maybe it has, but the physicality of the game has not gone completely the way of the dinosaurs. Just ask Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant, who received an elbow to his behind from Houston Rockets guard Chris Paul during the second quarter of the Western Conference finals’ Game 1 on Monday night.

Just like how he finds the seams for his passes, Paul was right on the money in elbowing Durant during that play. His elbow landed perfectly in the middle of Durant’s backside. After hitting Durant, Paul sparked a fastbreak play that ended with Clint Capela throwing it down off of a pass from James Harden.
Mark Sanchez, if you’re reading this, that is how you make a highlight involving a human’s gluteus maximus.
This is also Paul’s first conference finals game in his career, so that sequence should only make it more memorable for him and his fans.
Paul entered the third round of the postseason averaging 21.8 points on 48.5 percent shooting from the field with 5.5 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game. His biggest game yet of the playoffs happened in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Utah Jazz in which he dropped 41 points to go with eight 3-pointers, 10 assists, and seven rebounds to help the Rockets clinch a spot in the conference finals.
