Victor Oladipo hits unfortunate roadblock in return to Rockets lineup

Houston Rockets guard Victor Oladipo has been out of action for his team’s past three games due to a foot injury. There was some hope that the 28-year-old was going to be able to suit up for Houston’s tilt against the Chicago Bulls on Monday, but as it turns out, Oladipo recently suffered an unfortunate setback in his road to recovery.

Oladipo has officially been ruled out of Monday’s contest, and according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, the two-time All-Star sustained another injury in practice:

It is unclear if Oladipo suffered a new injury or if he re-injured the right foot strain that he’s been dealing with over the past week. Whatever the case may be, he will be out of action again on Monday, and possibly beyond that.

Oladipo has been in and out of the lineup since being traded from the Indiana Pacers in mid-January. The 6-foot-4 combo guard has been dealing with a number of injuries, with this foot problem being his latest setback. All in all, Oladipo has taken the floor for the Rockets 11 times this season while being forced to sit out eight games, including Monday’s matchup against the Bulls.

On the bright side, however, Oladipo has played relatively well for his new team — whenever he’s healthy, that is. He’s been able to put up averages of 18.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.1 steals, while also connecting on 2.1 triples per game.

Houston will embark on a two-game road trip after Monday’s game, as they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday and Friday, respectively. It remains to be seen if Oladipo will be able to travel with the squad for that brief road stint.
