Tyronn Lue’s interview schedule with Pelicans, Clippers, Rockets, revealed

Tyronn Lue, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Pelicans, NBA, Rockets, Clippers

Tyronn Lue is going to be a busy man over the next couple of days, as the former NBA guard will be meeting with the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday afternoon, the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday and the Houston Rockets on Sunday, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Tyronn Lue was an assistant coach with the Clippers under Doc Rivers, who is now running things with the Philadelphia 76ers. It is believed the Clippers’ job is Lue’s to lose, but the former Cleveland Cavaliers champion head coach is going to do his proper NBA due diligence and meet with the Pelicans and Rockets as well.

The Pelicans’ roster is headlined by Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and Jrue Holiday. New Orleans fired Alvin Gentry as head coach after the NBA seeding games ended. The team missed the playoffs for the second straight season.

The Rockets, meanwhile, have two MVPs on the roster in James Harden and Russell Westbrook. Former NBA Coach of the Year Mike D’Antoni chose not to return to Houston, as his contract expired. The Rockets lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals at Walt Disney World in five games.

The Clippers lost in the second round of the 2020 playoffs, too. They blew a 3-1 series lead to the Denver Nuggets and NBA All-Stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George both failed to score a single point in Game 7 against the Nuggets.

It will be interesting to see which job Lue winds up taking. He won the 2016 NBA championship with the Cavs over the Golden State Warriors in seven games as the team’s head coach.
