Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady says Jeff Van Gundy “went off” in the Houston Rockets locker room after T-Mac scored 13 points in 33 seconds against the San Antonio Spurs in the fourth quarter.

Van Gundy says the Rockets played terrible that game and the players shouldn’t have been proud of themselves just because McGrady saved the day with a performance we likely won’t ever see again.

That performance from McGrady is like an NBA myth. You have to watch the highlights to actually believe it happened. Everyone associated with the Rockets will always remember that game. Members of the Spurs, meanwhile, don’t ever want to talk about it.

As we all know, McGrady was one of the most gifted scorers during his prime. He showcased all of his tricks during that infamous 33 seconds against the Spurs. The shots T-Mac was hitting were a 10-of-10 in terms of difficulty.

McGrady never won an NBA championship, but he’s regarded as one of the best players in NBA history. McGrady and Van Gundy seem to have a genuine friendship and respect for each other. Those Rockets teams with McGrady and Yao Ming always came up short in the postseason, but the good memories will always be there for T-Mac and Van Gundy.
