Tracy McGrady is unsure about Rockets chances of reaching West Finals

In a recent interview with Chinese media, former Houston Rockets’ star and retired player Tracy McGrady stated he was unsure the Rockets would make a return trip to the Western Conference Finals.

Chris Paul joined MVP James Harden last season and helped push the Golden State Warriors to seven games last season but lost key contributors Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute while the rest of the conference continues to close the gap.

The Los Angeles Lakers notably added LeBron James over the summer while the Oklahoma City Thunder retained Paul George for another run with Russell Westbrook. The Portland Trailblazers look to build on their top three finish in the West last season. The Utah Jazz are primed to make another deep playoff push after being the surprise team of last year. The Denver Nuggets, with the addition of two-time All-star Isaiah Thomas, look to be a dark horse team.

The Rockets themselves made a move of their own by signing 10-time All-star and three-time Olympic gold medal winner Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony played for the Thunder last season, where he struggled to fit in his style of play with the rest of his teammates. This was made worse by his poor performance during the playoffs on both ends of the floor as they ended their season with an underwhelming first round exit in the hands of the Jazz.

If Carmelo again fails to live up to the expectations, Harden and Paul might not be enough to earn them a date with the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.
