Timberwolves will interview Rockets’ Gersson Rosas for team president
The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking for a shake-up. After a disappointing 36-46 regular season, they have a lot of work to do to make it back to the postseason.
That work will have to begin at the very top. Early in the 2018-19 season, the team dismissed head coach and president of basketball operations Tom Thibodeau, leaving the latter position vacant. Minnesota will spend the coming months finding a replacement.
Potential candidates are rolling in, including Los Angeles Clippers general manager Michael Winger. But the most recent candidate might be the most interesting of all.
Timberwolves have also asked for and received permission to interview Rockets vice president Gersson Rosas, per source. Rosas has been a candidate for several positions the past few seasons, but this could be an ideal fit. https://t.co/wX8tIje09Q

Gersson Rosas has been an executive in the Houston Rockets organization for almost 20 years. He also spent a small part of the 2013 as the general manager of the Dallas Mavericks before returning to Houston.
Rosas is one of modern basketball’s brightest minds, and would be a smart addition for Minnesota. He might be reluctant to leave the Rockets considering his lengthy history with the team. However, the promotion to run the Timberwolves might be enough to entice him.
The Timberwolves made the playoffs as recently as the 2017-18 season. However, that was their first and only postseason appearance in the last 15 seasons. Since the turn of the century, the organization has been known for its mediocrity.
According to reports though, they will not completely revamp their front office. The team reportedly plans to retain interim head coach Ryan Saunders and general manager Scott Layden. Doing so would create stability for an organization lacking a true foundation.
