Texas woman charged after allegedly using Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta’s information

Rockets, Tilman Fertitta

A Texas woman was charged with fraudulent use of identifying information and using a false statement to obtain a credit card after she attempted to use Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta’s social security number to open a new line of credit, per Ben Pickman of Sports Illustrated.

27-year-old Stephanie Hunter allegedly used Fertitta’s name, social security number and other personal information on the application:

Per charging documents, 27-year-old Stephanie Hunter told investigators that she had purchased Fertita’s information online and applied for a bank credit card, among other items. Per court filings, she also used a fake Gmail address involving Fertitta’s name.

Lifelock notified the Rockets owner that someone had opened an account in his name at Capital One Bank and Fertitta reported the scheme to local police.

This incident comes just a few days after Fertitta said the Rockets feared the Golden State Warriors the past few seasons. Maybe the Rockets owner needs to start fearing things outside of basketball too.

The Rockets, led by James Harden and Russell Westbrook, are 38-20 on the season. They are in fourth place in the Western Conference standings.

Houston has won five games in a row after defeating Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday at home.
