Steve Kerr not worried about Stephen Curry after underwhelming games vs. Rockets

Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry has found it tough to regain his full rhythm after coming back from a Grade 2 MCL sprain that kept him out nearly six weeks. For the first time in a series, Curry has had back-to-back subpar games — scoring less than 20 points in Games 1 and 2 against the Houston Rockets.

Yet his coach, Steve Kerr, finds no reason for concern.

“Obviously it wasn’t Steph’s best night,” said Kerr after a Game 2 127-105 loss to the Rockets. “He struggled, 1-for-8 from the 3-point line. Slow start for him.”

“I’m not worried about Steph, he’s that kind of competitor and player that will bounce back… He’s feeling good… He’s getting better. I thought he played a lot better in Game 1 than anybody gave him credit for.”

Curry has now shot a combined 2-of-13 from deep in his first two games of the series, a far cry for a 42 percent shooter in the regular season.

Yet to say his lack of outside shooting has had no effect in the series would be a flat out lie — as he has already matched the number of games in which he’s hit one of fewer 3-pointers during his last three postseasons.

The Rockets have made it a point to be physical with Curry in offense and defense, which is bound to take a toll on his body when playing off the ball — but historically, he’s bounced back during home outings, which could play to his favor for Games 3 and 4 at Oracle Arena.
