New Houston Rockets head coach Stephen Silas could bring Nate McMillan and Jeff Hornacek to Houston as his assistants, per Mark Berman of Fox 26 in Houston.
McMillan was fired by the Pacers after the 2020 playoffs ended, while Hornacek last coached for the New York Knicks.

The Rockets fell to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2020 playoffs at Walt Disney World in five games despite winning Game 1 of the series in convincing fashion. Houston not only lost head coach Mike D’Antoni after the postseason ended, but general manager Daryl Morey shockingly stepped down from his post as well.
As long as James Harden and Russell Westbrook are on the team, the Rockets will always be deemed title contenders. Maybe the club will shoot more midrange shots now that D’Antoni and Morey are gone. Silas is more of an old school coach, as are McMillan and Hornacek.
The Rockets have never advanced to the NBA Finals in the Harden era, which began in 2012. They have gotten to the Western Conference Finals twice, losing to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors on both occasions.
Whether it’s fair or not, Harden is under immense pressure to win a championship next season. Despite leading the NBA in scoring the past three seasons and winning the 2018 MVP award, he has zero titles to show for it.
