Skip Bayless seemingly throws shade at James Harden’s late-game scoring in Game 5 for Rockets

Just as he has done all year, Houston Rockets star guard James Harden has been Houston’s best player during the team’s Western Conference semifinal against the Golden State Warriors. Harden is averaging nearly 35 points, seven rebounds and six assists while shooting close to 45 percent of the field, controlling Houston’s offense from the perimeter and scoring critical buckets throughout the series.

And yet, James Harden wilted down the stretch in a crucial Game 5 at Oracle Arena on Wednesday night. With the Rockets clawing back from as large as a 20-point deficit and Kevin Durant leaving the game late in the third quarter with a mild calf strain, Houston seemed primed to take control of the game.

However, James Harden scored just five points in a fourth quarter that saw Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson take over the contest, resulting in a massive win and 3-2 series advantage for the Warriors.

On FOX Sports “Undisputed,” Skip Bayless chastised Harden for his lack of production down the stretch:

Both Bayless and Shannon Sharpe took shots at Harden’s performances throughout his playoff career, with Bayless even saying that James Harden is “made for the regular season, not so much the postseason.”

Bayless also brought up a March 13 showdown between the Rockets and Warriors, where Golden State defeated Houston without Durant and Harden shot just 2 of 12 from beyond the arc.

With Durant out for the remainder of the series, Houston has a massive opportunity to even the series on their home floor in Game 6. But with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson showing signs of heating up in Durant’s absence, James Harden will need to be at his MVP-best to send the series back to Golden State for a deciding Game 7.
