Shaquille O’Neal reacts to reported ‘tension’ between Rockets’ James Harden, Chris Paul

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal gave his take on the alleged tension between Houston Rockets superstars James Harden and Chris Paul.

O’Neal sounded like he was not surprised at all because he thinks having such tension between two superstars is quite common. The former Los Angeles Lakers superstar said, though, that superstars like Paul and Harden should make sure that it is a “respectful tension.”

“I don’t mind having tension, just has to be respectful tension,” Shaq said on ESPN’s First Take. “All the past stories I heard about past greats, they had tension, they had beef. When you step inside the lines, you gotta to respect each other.”

It is worth noting that O’Neal had his fair share of beef rumors before. It was later confirmed that he and Kobe Bryant had tensions during their time together in Los Angeles.

Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports reported on Tuesday that Paul and Harden do not want to play with each other anymore. The report indicated that the relationship of the two Rockets guard is “unsalvageable” and it will likely lead to a split if the Rockets will not find a way to fix the alleged rift between the two.

Paul and Harden were reportedly not seeing eye-to-eye during the season, which created a negative atmosphere within the franchise. After losing to the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the playoffs, Paul reportedly informed the Rockets that he wants to be traded, but it remains to be seen if Houston will give in to his demand.
