Scott Brooks says Russell Westbrook ‘plays his ass off every night and is super loyal to his team’

Scott Brooks, who coached Russell Westbrook on the Oklahoma City Thunder, says the Houston Rockets are getting one helluva player.

Brooks, who is currently the head coach of the Washington Wizards, says he’d love to coach a team of 15 Russell Westbrooks.

Russell Westbrook has averaged a triple-double three seasons in a row. The former MVP plays with more passion and grit than any other player in the league. You often hear players say they play every game like it’s their last. The Rockets are actually getting a player who embodies that statement.

At times, Westbrook can play a little out of control, but that’s because he’s trying to do whatever it takes to win. In Houston, Westbrook won’t have the offensive burden on his shoulders every possession, as he’s playing with 2018 MVP James Harden, who has led the league in scoring the past two seasons.

You don’t average a triple-double three seasons in a row without being a historically great competitor. If there’s a loose ball, Westbrook will be the first one to dive onto the floor. The explosive guard has never been afraid to put his body on the line for his team. That’s something Rockets fans are really going to appreciate about Russ.

An eight-time All-Star, Westbrook has career averages of 23.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 8.4 assists. Over the last three seasons, Westbrook is putting up 26.8 points, 10.6 rebounds and 10.4 assists.

Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni is going to love coaching Westbrook because he’ll never have to worry about the 30-year-old not having the motor for a particular game. Every time he steps onto the floor, Westbrook is going to give you 100 percent effort and make his presence be known in loud fashion.
