Sacramento Kings could land Clint Capela if Jimmy Butler goes to Rockets

Clint Capela, Rockets

The Sacramento Kings are looking to swing for the fences this offseason and are willing to spend money to do it. Harrison Barnes is going to be re-signed to a four-year contract worth around $90 million, but there is another player that could end up being acquired via trade that the Kings are hoping to get.

According to a report from Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Kings could land Clint Capela from the Houston Rockets if Jimmy Butler decides to join James Harden and Chris Paul. Houston would have to clear cap room in order to make the acquisition happen.

Capela would be an intriguing fit for the Kings. He isn’t known as a scorer, but he can put the ball in the basket, rebounds at a high level, and defends the rim as well. Sacramento has needed a legitimate center for a few years now and would get it with this trade.

During the 2018-19 NBA season with the Rockets, Capela ended up averaging 16.6 points per game to go along with 12.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. He shot 64.8 percent from the field.

At just 25 years old, Capela would fit the long-term picture for the Kings as well. Sacramento is ready to make a push back towards the playoffs. They showed signs last season, but need another piece or two.

It will be interesting to see how the chips fall on the table this offseason. There are a lot of big names ready to switch teams and Capela could be one of them.
