Russell Westbrook says he’s going to fit right in with Rockets’ style of play

Russell Westbrook, Rockets

Russell Westbrook was introduced to the media as a Houston Rocket for the first time on Friday, and while many continue to wonder just how things will work, the star point guard seems to have no worries. Speaking to the media, Westbrook was quick to note he believes he’ll fit right in with the Rockets’ style of play:

Westbrook also touched on not needing the ball in order to impact an offense, something that has been a huge critique of the player since his rise to superstardom in Oklahoma City.

While Westbrook has averaged a triple-double through the last three seasons, his exact role in Houston isn’t known just yet. It’s likely that he won’t be asked to be the main focus of the offense, especially with Harden being one of the best scorers in the league, but Westbrook’s talent will no doubt come in handy.

After having surgeries on his knee and hand, Westbrook also noted he will be able to participate in Houston’s training camp when it begins. With Westbrook joining his former Thunder teammate James Harden in Houston, the Rockets are once again right back in the mix of title contenders in the Western Conference.

Both former MVPs know what it’s like to play off of each other, so the hope is they can lead the Rockets back to the NBA Finals and capture a title in the wide-open NBA.
