Houston Rockets superstar Russell Westbrook is the latest NBA player to pledge financial assistance to the people who have been affected by the current coronavirus pandemic.
Westbrook, a Long Beach, California native, recently went on “Good Morning America” with his wife, Nina, to provide the details of how he intends to help out those most in need:

At this point it is clear that it isn’t only the people who have been hit by the virus who are/will be suffering, but the same can be said about a good chunk of America. With the country effectively in a shutdown, there seems to be no escaping the fact that the economy will take a significant hit because of the same. The people who will be most affected by this are those who live paycheck-to-paycheck, and for his part, Westbrook hopes to reach out to these impoverished people.
Westbrook may be a tough guy on the court, but there’s no denying that he has a golden heart. The Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation was established in 2012 and has since helped change the lives of a great number of kids living in poverty.
As for his basketball prowess, Westbrook was having a peach of a season in his debut campaign for the Rockets before the season came to an abrupt halt. In 53 games played so far, the 31-year-old averaged 27.5 points (on a career-best 47.4 percent shooting), 8.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per contest. Houston holds a 40-24 record.
