RUMOR: Rockets ‘desperately’ want to trade Clint Capela

Clint Capela, Rockets, Celtics, NBA

It looks like the Houston Rockets aren’t just gauging Clint Capela’s trade value around the NBA.

According to Ben Rohrbach of Yahoo Sports, the Rockets “desperately” want to trade Capela at the NBA trade deadline. Jabari Young of CNBC adds that Houston is “done” with Capela:

The Boston Celtics have had trade talks with the Rockets centered around Capela. The Rockets would prefer to trade Capela to an Eastern Conference team. They’re trying to acquire first-round picks for a deal to get a wing and a center to replace Capela.

Capela has appeared in 39 games for the Rockets this season. He’s averaging 13.9 points, 13.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 62.9 percent from the field and 52.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Right now, Capela is dealing with a nagging heel injury which will likely keep him out for a few games.

Capela is making $14,896,552 this season. He’s owed $16,000,000 next season, $17,103,448 in 2021-22 and $18,206,897 in 2022-23. Capela does most of his damage on alley-oops thanks to James Harden and Russell Westbrook.

The NBA trade deadline is on Thursday. It will be interesting to see where Capela ends up landing, but it sounds like his days with the Rockets are numbered. Capela has career averages of 12.2 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 334 games with the Rockets.
