Rumor: DeAndre Jordan wants to be traded to the Rockets

deandre jordan

DeAndre Jordan has been floating the rumor mill for the past month already, after the L.A. Clippers have been victims of several injuries and are unlikely to make a run for the postseason.

According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith via Clevis Murray of NBC Boston, Jordan would like to be traded to the team they just played against an beat 113-102 last night — the Houston Rockets.

While the Clippers will certainly ask a fortune for their rebounding and shot-blocking specialist, it makes sense, given that Jordan is a native Houstonian, who went to college at Texas A&M.

The 6-foot-11 center is a close second in rebounds this season, only a whisker shy of Andre Drummond’s league-leading 15 per game.

Jordan has made huge strides in his free-throw shooting, now making 60.4 percent of his attempts from the stripe, but his field goal percentage has gone down from the ridiculous 70-plus percent he sported the last couple of seasons.

The Clippers big man has missed two straight games due to an ankle injury, but surprisingly enough, the freakishly athletic center has only missed seven games since the start of the 2012-13 season, becoming a rare ironman at the position.

Houston already has a capable young center in Clint Capela, and one who has also made huge improvements in his free-throw shooting and coming into his own at the offensive end, even more so due to the addition of Chris Paul as the team’s point man.

A swap of Capela and another player for Jordan’s huge 22.6 million he’s owed this season, and the 24.1 million he’ll make next season won’t come cheap for a team that has already cleaned half the house to acquire a dime maestro in the offseason, and judging by last night’s events, who knows if Paul would be ready for a reunion with his longtime former teammate?
