RUMOR: 3 teams still engaged on Rockets’ P.J. Tucker

P.J. Tucker, Rockets, NBA Trade Rumors

NBA trade rumors involving Houston Rockets forward P.J. Tucker continue to swirl as three teams have reportedly remained as potential candidates to land his services. A number of playoff-bound squads in the Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers are all keeping tabs on the availability of Tucker leading up to the March 25 trade deadline.

Via Shams Charania of The Athletic:

“The Rockets remain engaged with several teams — including Milwaukee, Miami and the Lakers — but sources say Houston’s desire for a young talented player has set a strong price in any potential deal for the 35-year-old forward.”

Despite the interest, the Rockets have claimed that they will only be accepting a young stud in exchange for Tucker, per Charania. The player that they will receive via trade will potentially be a part of their rebuilding efforts as they are continuing to plummet in the 2020-21 season with an 11-26 record.

The Bucks, Heat, and the Lakers all share a common desire to add Tucker to their roster, given his veteran leadership and invaluable playing experience. However, it remains to be seen if they would be willing to part ways with a promising player of their own in exchange for the 35-year-old veteran.

Tucker is currently averaging 4.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists through 32 games played in his 11th season in the league. Amid his struggles, it can’t be denied that Tucker still holds value in today’s NBA and can still make an impact on several teams in the league.

His ability to guard multiple positions despite being undersized will certainly come in handy for the organizations who are seeking to make a run in the postseason. Hopefully, a team will be willing to take a risk on P.J. Tucker in order to give a new lease of life on his career this season.
