Rockets video: six-foot Chris Paul blocks 7-foot-1 Alex Len

Chris Paul

Houston Rockets superstar point guard Chris Paul is well-regarded for his prowess on defense. However, of all that he brings to the table, the ability to block shots is not one of them.

Needless to say, that did not stop him from going up with Phoenix Suns center Alex Len on Friday night. Fortunately, it paid off this time with Paul successfully rejecting the seven-footer on his way up during the second quarter via NBA TV on Twitter:

It is not every day one sees a player block someone over a foot taller than them. However, given the right circumstances, it is certainly possible as evidenced by Paul’s highlight rejection. Believe it or not, it was actually the first of two blocks he would record in the game.

Aside from his brief stint as a rim protector, Paul enjoyed yet another spectacular outing with 25 points on an efficient 9-of-18 from the field, to go with eight rebounds and six assists. More importantly, the Rockets got their third straight win with a 112-95 victory over the Suns.

Chris Paul has gotten back to his elite self after enduring an injury-riddled start to the 2017-18 NBA season. The timing could not be better with superstar shooting guard James Harden dealing with a hamstring injury. As a result, the veteran star has had to hold down the backcourt in his absence.

Houston has managed to maintain their elite status after having won four of their last six games since Harden’s absence Fortunately, they will not have to do it much longer with “The Beard” expected to make his return at some point next week.
