The Houston Rockets are trading former NBA MVP Russell Westbrook to the Washington Wizards for John Wall and a first-round pick, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Westbrook requested a trade from the Rockets after just one season in Clutch City. There have been rumors that Wall was unhappy in Washington and now he gets a fresh start with the Rockets.

The 2017 MVP, Russell Westbrook averaged 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game during the 2019-20 regular season. However, he struggled in the 2020 playoffs against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers after contracting COVID-19 and playing through a quad injury.
The Rockets lost to the Lakers in the second round of the NBA playoffs in five games.
John Wall, meanwhile, missed the entire 2019-20 season recovering from an Achilles tear. The Wizards drafted Wall with the No. 1 overall pick back in the 2010 NBA draft. He finishes his Washington career with averages of 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 9.2 assists.
The Wizards now have an explosive backcourt of Westbrook and Bradley Beal, while the Rockets are hoping that James Harden will change his mind about his trade request now that Wall and DeMarcus Cousins are in the fold.
Harden, a three-time scoring champion, reportedly wants to play for the Brooklyn Nets since Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are his close friends. However, the Rockets are under no obligation to honor Harden’s trade request since he’s under contract for a while.
