Williams, now 23 years of age, signed a 10-day contract with the Rockets on March 10, 2017. The Hampton, Virginia native was then assigned to Houston’s G League affiliate team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Though he did not appear in any games with the Rockets during that 10-day deal, the team decided to sign him for the remainder of the season on March 20, 2017.
Williams re-signed with the Rockets on July 25, 2017. The 6-foot-7 forward has played in four games for Houston this season, averaging 1.3 points and 1.0 rebound per game. In his 34 career NBA games played, Williams has turned in averages of 5.6 points on 42.6 percent shooting from the field (26.9 percent from beyond the arc), 2.1 rebounds, and just under one assist (.8) per contest.
Johnson, 36, committed to signing with the Rockets after his contract buyout from the Sacramento Kings was completed Saturday. As most hoops fans know, the Kings acquired Johnson from the Utah Jazz as part of a three-team deal that was made just before the NBA’s trade deadline on Thursday.
In his 32 games played for the Jazz this season, Johnson had nightly numbers of 7.3 points on 42.0 percent shooting from the field (27.4 percent from beyond the arc), 3.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
For what it’s worth, Johnson has earned $214 million over the course of his career, which is good for fourth-most among active players, behind Dirk Nowitzki, LeBron James, and Carmelo Anthony.
As Charania reported, Williams could still draw interest from other teams. Be sure to keep your browsers locked on ClutchPoints for more updates as they become available.
