The Houston Rockets are seemingly peaking at the perfect time, and they have shown just how dominant they can be in the first two games of their best-of-seven first round playoff series against the Utah Jazz. Although the Rockets are heavily reliant on reigning MVP James Harden, the rest of the players on the roster have contributed to their success this season.
Although they weren’t able to replicate their regular season performance from last year, when they had the best record in the league, they still look dominant, and there’s a strong belief from within the team that they are better this season than last, according to an article by ESPN’s Tim McMahon.
And as confident as the Rockets were a year ago, they consider themselves a significantly better team now. The regular-season standings might indicate differently, but the Rockets probably won’t get any arguments from the Utah Jazz after a pair of routs to open their Western Conference first-round series.
It’s hard to argue with how the Rockets see themselves at the moment. Aside from routing the Jazz in the first two games, they have also been able to stand their ground against some of the league’s best teams, particularly the Golden State Warriors. There’s no telling whether or not they have what it takes to come out of the West, but judging by their recent performances, it seems possible.
