Rockets star Russell Westbrook’s blunt reaction to blowing game vs. Spurs after controversial James Harden call

The Houston Rockets fell to the San Antonio Spurs in double overtime on Tuesday night, despite the fact that James Harden racked up 50 points and the Rockets held a 16-point lead midway through the fourth quarter.

There was plenty of controversy surrounding this game due to a controversial call on a James Harden dunk attempt in the fourth quarter, with refs ruling no basket after the ball went through the hoop but then somehow went back up through the basket.

The Spurs ultimately managed to rally from a late 10-point deficit to beat the Rockets, 135-133. Russell Westbrook, who had 19 points on a woeful 7-of-30 performance, bluntly addressed the loss:

“Shit happens,” Westbrook said, before departing for the team bus, via Kelly Iko of The Athletic.

The Rockets are hoping the NBA will take action due to the blown call on Harden’s dunk, but they’re ready to protest the game if that doesn’t happen. It will be interesting to see how the NBA reacts to this.

Westbrook and the Rockets will look to get back into the win column on Thursday night, as they’re scheduled for a matchup against the Toronto Raptors. Tip-off inside Scotiabank Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, with NBA TV having live broadcast coverage.
