Rockets star James Harden scores most points by a Heat opponent

James Harden of the Houston Rockets put on another dazzling scoring performance against the Miami Heat. Along the way, he forged his way into the history books with the most points scored against the Heat.

According to Rockets TV and radio announcer Craig Ackerman, Harden’s 58 points is the most points scored by an opposing player in a single game. The record was previously held by Willie Burton who dropped 53 points on December 13, 1994.

In their 121-118 victory, Harden shot 16-of-32 from the field, 8-of-18 from downtown, and 18-of-18 from the free throw line. The reigning MVP tallied his sixth game with at least 50 points.

The Rockets have won four straight games and have a 37-25 record for fifth place in the Western Conference. If all goes well, they may end the season as the third seed in the Western Conference.

Given how the Rockets are performing as of late, can we safely say that the old team is back? Are we going to see the Rockets of last season who were one win away from the NBA Finals?

Perhaps we need more games before coming to a conclusion. But without a doubt, the Rockets have managed to turn things around. Several key players like Chris Paul and Clint Capela are back in the line up healthy as ever. The NBA might be in for a ride once the Rockets switch into playoff form.
